Let discuss about pre op preparation and post op management for haemorrhoidectomy ( including bowel preparation , antibiotic , analgesic , diet after operation, local wound management ) according to your experience.
Isn’t better to discuss the evidence rather than surgeons experience?
Bowel prep: NIL as the evidence suggest no benefit, just make sure patient open their bowel before they come to theatre. Solid stool in the rectum are far easier to deal with than residual enemas and liquid stool from bowel prepe
Preop fasting: follow ERAS protocols, six hours solid and three hours fluids
Postoperative management: follow ERAS protocolos: ora intake immediately, laxatives if they were constipated, metronidazole is both prophylactic antibiotic and analgesic. Cox2 inhibitors are evidence based efficient
Not only my own experience but evidence based practice
