Platelet like bleeding in VWF is platelet adhesion defect, means platelet count will be normal, but how come its partial quantitative defect as platelet count is normal? In a bleeding case where there is normal platele count,we should think for qualitative defect. Then how come platelet adhesion disorder is quantitative defect? Rakesh s nair sir can you please clarify my doubt?
Type 1 Von Willebrand disease is called as partial quantitative defect due to the presence of 75-80% of normal Von Willebrand factor, and not on the basis of platelet count.
Thank you.
