#Post_thrombotic_syndrome:

DEF: it’s one complication of DVT that happen after deep venous thrombosis.

#Features:

  • painful, heavy calves

  • pruritus

  • swelling

  • varicose vein

  • venous ulceration

#Treatment

is compression DVT stocking as prophylaxy to prevent post thrombotic syndrome. Offer below the knee graduated compression stocking with an ankle pressure greater than 23 mmHg to patients with proximal DVT a week after Dx or when swelling is reduced sufficiently and if there is not any contraindications, and advise it just for affected leg or legs for 2 years and it should be changed 2 to 3 times per year.
