Potential adverse reactions to drugs administered in infants:

  • Oxygen --. Retinopathy of prematurity , bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

  • Chloramphenicol – Grey baby syndrome, bone marrow suppression.

  • Vitamin K analogues – Jaundice.

  • Tetracycline – Enamel Hypoplasia.

  • Sodium bicarbonate – Intraventricular hemorrhage.

  • Amphotericin – Anuric Renal failure.

  • Indomethacin – oliguria , hyponatremia , intestinal perforation.

  • Aminoglycosides – Deafness , Renal toxicity.

  • Erythromycin – Pyloric stenosis.
