Test for iron deficiency anemia

Most sensitive test for iron deficiency anemia

A)Bone marrow iron staining

B) Soluble transferrin receptor assay

C) Serum ferritin?

Most specific test for iron deficiency anemia?

Most sensit test for ida is soluble transferrin receptor assay

Earliest marker for ida is serum ferritin

Most specific is soluble transferrin receptor assay:log ferritin ratio

but gold standard is bone marrow with staining…so it should be most sensitive na?

and in patho notes most sensitive is stfr/ log ferritin > stfr > serum ferritin

But if bone marrow iron staining is in option then what will be the answer

i am confused between A and B …c is definitely wrong as per patho notes ed6

Serum ferritin is Most sensitive test for IDA that’s why it’s the first investigation that is done in IDA suspects.

•BM aspiration and statining is Gold standard but not used oftenly for making diagnosis of IDA as Ferritin is enough for assessment of body iron stores.

ferritin cannot be most sensitive as its an acute phase reactant
