In-practice education, where you are guided by a medical supervisor

Self-directed learning, including completing online modules
Face-to-face educational activities, in a small group setting
RACGP OSCE examination workshop and tutorials

RACGP Fellowship Examinations

Year One of the Program is delivered completely online by distance education. Commencing from Year Two and continuing on into Year Three of the Program, most of the training is delivered by interactive practice-based teaching and experience. This involves patient-stimulated learning where registrars have direct contact with patients as well as in-practice teaching where you learn from talking to, watching and interacting with your clinical supervisor. There are additional formal pre-planned activities, such as tutorials taught by your supervisor or other staff. As a registrar completing the training program, you will receive full support and resources to ensure that you’re on the right track to meet the requirements of attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Qualification – Completion of Training

Successful completion of the General Practice Experience Pathway Registrar Training Program will see graduates achieve Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Conferral of this certification will allow International Medical Graduates to practice independently as specialist General Practitioners in Australia.

Furthermore, successful graduates of the program are also guaranteed an offer of employment (conditional on meeting Department of Immigration & Border Protection requirements) as a Vocationally Registered (VR) General Practitioner through METC Institute’s extensive primary care network
