What is HONEYMOON PHASE in type 1 diabetes mellitus ?

Basically in T1DM, after diagnosis the remaining beta cells of pancreatic islets function more and helps maintain the blood glucose even without any drugs; thus the patient remains asymptomatic.

This period is known as the Honeymoon period.

In type 1 dm, after diagnosis the patient restrict their life, then suddenly the BG level come to normal. And the pt stop taking drug as he or she thinks its cured. but then BG again start rising. the phase when the BG is lower is called Honey moon period. Thats a psudo lowering of BG
