What is NEXT Exam & its Five main Advantages & disadvantages
NEXT is a National Exit Test is a common final year undergraduate medical examination, to be also known as licensing Exam.
According NMC ACT,entry into the PG medical programmes would be done on the basis of the results of the National Exit Test (NEXT), which would be held as a common medical exam across the country.
So that candidates have not to appaer for the separate exams for admisison into medical programmes.
Five Main Advantages of MBBS Exit Exam(NEXT)
1.A common entrance exam for all Institutes like AIIMS, JIPMER,NIMHANS & PGI.
2.No two exams burden (i.e final year MBBS & 2nd NEET PG)
3 .Students will focus on internship more rather than their PG preparation
4.It is a big advantage for students who will get to appear for the exam in the very year of implementation of it,Because Government will have to conduct last time NEET PG & 1st time NEXT exam together for covering 1 year gap.
5.Similar Opportunity for Foreign Medical Graduates.
The Five mains Disadvantages of MBBS Exit Exam.
1.Lack of Transparency as Exit Exam will involve human based checking whereas NEET PG is a computer based exam system.
2.Possibility of Increased Corruption. Teachers & Institute favour the influenced students & will take bribe
3.Is government is going to withdraw the bond ?
In most of the state there is one year bond after completing MBBS Course.
It is harsh for bonded students to appear twice for the same exam
(first at the time of Final year of MBBS & 2nd after completing the bond)
- Chance of age and attempt limit restriction , which was not there previously
5 .Students not clearing the exam in their 1st Attempt will have to wait one year for reappearing for the exam.
Earlier re exams where conducted in 6 months interval.
Please Note:There is no clarity from the BOG/MCI about NEXT exam regarding the pattern of exam whether it will be subjective or MCQ pattern , practical or viva marks inclusion ,and whether all the 19 subjects or only final year subject will be included.
