what is the process of regaining heat in case of severe hypothermic baby?

In case of severe hypothermia (<32 degrees C), warm humidified oxygen should be given followed immediately by 5 mL/kg of 10% dextrose IV or 50 mL of 10% dextrose by nasogastric route (if IV access is difficult).

If the clinical condition allows the child to take orally, warm feeds should be given immediately or else the feeds should be administered through a nasogastric tube.

If there is feed intolerance or any other contraindication for nasogastric feeding, maintenance pre-warmed IV fluids should be started.

Thank you.
