Which is the direction of nystagmus

Ma’am in marrow notes it is written that in vestibular neuritis fast component is always towards irritated side(which is the direction of nystagmus)…but as you explained in the video that nystagmus is always towards more active side…so why it should be on the irritated side as the opposite side labyrinth is more active?

Active in the sense of neural activity… Irritation due to the inflammation keeps on stimulating the nerve unnecessarily making it the more active… Active means more activity, not better functionality
