Respected Ma’am I have a doubt regarding CMOM repair

  1. In Myringoplasty, why is a graft being placed if removing epithelization of the TM will allow healing

  2. If the tympanomeatal flap is being raised to cover the TM, then what is the use of the graft in Myringoplasty specially.

  1. The graft acts as a template and a support over which the epithelial and endothelial layer will grow .

  2. the tympanomeatal flap is raised to first access the complete perforation and after the graft is placed , when it is replaced over the graft , the graft gets a support all around and extrusion is prevented .
