You do come across rude seniors

Working in NHS is hard…

You do come across rude seniors…

They expect you to know a lot of things…

Your level of knowledge might not be sufficient …

Your english must be the best …

(NB : This is a optimistic post - not to show off)

Helloo… I am a Junior doctor who joined recently in NHS ( 5 months), working as a SHO in the emergency department .

Did you read those statements that I mentioned above , as every one of you even I heard that and was extremely worried about joining here , at times I was scared to choose certain specialities. Because , I also felt the same as you “am not good enough”.

I am not here to tell you that it’s super cool to work here or you will be treated like a baby. No , its not - But it has its own bitterness as every stages of life , things do happen - it’s all about learning from those moments and trying to make yourself better and better.

As an Emergency department doc , I do struggle these days , some days I feel like the worst .

But this system has its own way of boosting you to be a good doctor , nurturing you to a better colleague.

Let me take you to a beautiful incident happened recently , I opened mail - I saw a certificate from the hospital trust saying as I have been awarded a “GREATIX” , as I receive weekly trust updates mails regarding health and protocols , I thought it was just a ‘make good feel’ update for everyone and Ignored it.

Later , during the end of the shift , I asked one of the colleague regarding it - I was so amazed and proud to hear what they said - Greatix is an anonymous appreciation made by any of your colleague for any act you did in a professional set up.its value triples when it comes as a certificate from your trust leads.

I am sure , I didn’t do any big time procedures or found brilliant diagnosis, I am confident that I did not revive any cardiac arrest that day- what all I did was - kept working as usual and I am glad it got appreciated

What meant to say is - Just push yourself , move forward , learn from each experience - this is one of the best health sectors that I could work so far - and am sure you will agree with me soon a day…!!!

Good Luck guys
