Anticoagulant used to estimate glucose from a sample sent from PHC is
- Calcium oxalate
- Potassium oxalate + NaF
- Sodium citrate
- Fluoride inhibits the glycolytic enzyme enolase, thereby inhibits the glycolytic sequence. Sodium fluoride is mixed with potassium oxalate, an anticoagulant, in the blood sample collected for glucose estimation. Because it inhibits enolase, in vitro glycolysis is prevented. In the absence of sodium fluoride, glucose will be used.
