Clinical Case Presentation

Clinical Case Presentation: :briefcase:

Mr T is a Roof Plumber who fell through the roof of a house he was working on :house: :face_with_head_bandage:. He sustained a right distal radius fracture and was seen by an orthopaedic surgeon who stabilised the fracture with plates and screws (see his x-rays in the comments):hammer_and_pick:. His ‘hardware’ was removed at 12 weeks post surgery and he started hand therapy with us at 5 months post injury.

He was very stiff at his initial assessment and we commenced both active and passive mobilisation, scar management, strengthening and proprioceptive exercises.

One of the modalities we used was the continuous passive motion (CPM) machine for his wrist which is shown in this video .

Mr T is now 9 months post injury and has a functional range of motion, is almost pain free and is back to work doing his normal hours and duties .
