Does COVID-19 transmit from the dead body of an infected person? Health ministry says ‘no’

KATHMANDU, July 4: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) claimed that COVID-19 does not transmit from the dead body of an infected person.

Spokesperson for the ministry Dr Jageshwar Gautam during a daily media briefing on Saturday said that the dead body of the infected person can either be buried or burned as per the rituals as it won’t spread COVID-19.

“COVID-19 spreads from the droplets that one releases during sneezing, coughing or breathing. Since the dead body does not do any of these activities, there is no chance of transmission.”
