• The above picture shows a plantar nodule in the concavity of the arch of the foot • This rules out Ganglion, Rheumatoid nodule and Dupuytren’s disease which are associated with hand • Plantar fascial fibromatosis or Ledderhose disease is similar to dupuytren’s disease in the hand. • Both are fibrosing diseases causing fibrosing contracture of the plantar aponeurosis (as in Ledderhose) leading to formation of nodules, which are painless.
• After a period of time, this hinders with gait as it is situated most commonly at the height of arch of foot. • Needs excision before tendon shortening occurs.
