Going on my 3rd internal rod w/locking screws in my femur

Going on my 3rd internal rod w/locking screws in my femur(broke it Feb 2017, rerodded 14 months ago) Should I try a different orthopedic surgeon group? I am in the middle of nowhere so there is only one orthopedic group in like 4 hours, in a car. The 2nd rod is a 14mm, the first a 12mm.
The first rod broke, and the screws did too. But the current rod is not broken and the screws were taken out 4 months ago because they caused alot ot pain. Now part of the bone caloused nicely, but the outside of my leg however is a nonunion(verified ct scan). Surgeon says bone needs to be taken from my lower leg, to bone graph my nonunion(original bone graph was shavings from canal drilling, and cadaver).
He wants to ream and replace the hardware, saw something?, and scrape out the bad stuff. It is natural to be scared, but this is a nightmare for me. Please kindly give me some hope! Thank you. Why the saw? He said to shorten something. Probably the nonunion area to get fresh bone?
