My situation is, I’ll be sitting for PLAB 1 in November 2019. After passing, I plan to sit for PLAB 2 in early 2020 and apply for a provisional registration.
However, my housemanship in Malaysia will only begin around June 2020 and be completed after two years (June 2022). I do not plan to sit for the PLAB exam during my housemanship as it is difficult to obtain leave when I need to go to UK for PLAB 2. After completing the housemanship, I plan to come over for an SHO position in the NHS.
My questions are:
- Can I successfully apply for the provisional registration before the start of my housemanship in 2020?
HO begins around April 2020, I plan to finish up PLAB exams before that.
- Can I apply for a full registration after two years (upon completing housemanship in 2022) without having to resit the PLAB exams?
In other words - I will “convert” the provisional registration I already have into a full registration.
- What do I have to provide in that case?
