Now is our only chance to voice our objections against the proposed changes in the scoring system

Now is our only chance to voice our objections against the proposed changes in the scoring system❗️

A pass/fail system in the USMLEs is a death sentence for most non-US IMGs’ dreams of securing a residency position.

Please take a few minutes of your time to complete this official survey and pass it on to all your fellows involved in this journey.

It is of utmost importance that as many people as possible make their objections known❗ There’s literally nothing else that we can do to stop this so we shouldn’t waste our only chance.

Before completing the survey, please take the time to familiarize yourself with all the proposed changes, as they do NOT only include pass/fail in Step 1. A pdf is available after filling the first couple of steps of the survey.

Arguments you can bring to the table:

:arrow_forward: Foreign-trained physicians have always been an integral part of the US health system

:arrow_forward: Abolishing USMLE scores essentially abolishes the only 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 criterion against which all prospective residents, both US and foreign-trained, are assessed equally

:arrow_forward: A pass/fail system would significantly lower the standards of education as preparation will shift from striving to excel to putting the bare minimum effort to pass - excellence is not awarded in any way

:arrow_forward: Quartiles are not an acceptable solution! A 245 and a 275 are both in the top quartile but there’s a huge difference between the two.

:arrow_forward: Step 2CS is a largely problematic examination due to its subjective nature. A scoring system instead of the current pass/fail system would exacerbate the situation.

Feel free to add other arguments below this post. Do NOT copy and paste text from other people, as the survey handling system might flag it as spam. Express yourselves in your own words.

Charcot Bouchard please make this a sticky for the duration of the survey (deadline is on July 26th)
