TODAY TOPIC: PATIENT DELIVERY PARTNER THERAPY (PDPT)
Q: Can you give treatment to sex partner without seeing him? If yes? What treatment? What are the conditions?
A: YES, we can give azithromycin to the sex partner (IF FAILED to persuade the patient to call the partner)
CONDITIONS:

Confirmed patient with chlamydia
-
Partner is my patient and I have do document in file
-
Only one gram single dose, oral
-
No limitation of number of partners provided that all my patients and single prescription for each and include patient name and document I file

Partner is not under risk of other infection:
e.g a) not for mixed infection in the patient (HIV, chlamydia, Gonorrhoea)
b) Partner is not under risk (male homosexual) -
Allergy is rare but check I file if there is allergy to medication

Sure that partner is not pregnant

Provide written information to partner
-
Advise to avoid sex for one week since starting treatment together

Follow up for both for STD
NB: if you know partner and at risk of other STD, you HAVE to inform
