So the doctor versus the SDM fiasco is all in the limelight

So the doctor versus the SDM fiasco is all in the limelight.

Almost every medico is criticizing the SDM’s heightened sense of self-esteem and ego and highlighting the point that yes, doctors should believe in themselves, they should have the confidence that yes, we are something of vital importance to this society.

Well, IT STARTS AT HOME.

In one year of my internship, I have come across the fact that the ones who disrespect doctors the most are DOCTORS THEMSELVES.

“What kind of moron are you?”

“Tujhe kuch aata hai ya nahi?”

“Aise dekhega patient ko, chu*?”

“Aaj pure din bina joote ke kaam kar”

“You don’t deserve to sit, you will stand the entire day and work and keep standing until I say otherwise.”

(Let’s also not forget the countless times the junior doctors’ mothers, sisters and families are verbally abused)

(Yes, the interns, JRs, PGs and even SRs are berated like this IN FRONT of patients. Tell me why would that patient respect the doctor being reprimanded?)

But why does it happen?

Let me tell you why - “Arey, aise hi toh seekhega kaam karna.”

What a convenient reply.

To all the toxic people there, you’re everything wrong with this field.

And to all the people who do not let this toxicity seep further, you’re all worth working for.
