Attack of acute severe asthama leads to type 1 respiratory failure

attack of acute severe asthama leads to type 1 respiratory failure so pco2 levels should be normal or low so why can’t it be respiratory alkalosis?

Hypoventilation…Acute attack means exacerbation of underlying chronic lung disease

Type 1 can be converted to type 2 and in this case their is co2 rise that cause alter sensorium that’s why resp acidosis

Basically it’s a case of acute severe asthma, where there can be depression of the respiratory centre leading to CO2 buildup, high pCO2 and respiratory acidosis.
