First of all check scope of Cardiology in UK, USA, Cardiology is highest paid in these countries…Reason is that Cardiology is emerging and will continue to emerge. UK, USA have advancements in Cardiology which make it highest paid. Imagine that today or tomorrow same advamcements are going to come in Pakistan and cardiology will go to peak. There are much more interventions in cardiology in pakistan even at present…

Even at present following points make it best field in pakistan.

1.First of all no GP, no medical specialist, no consultant of any other speciality will try to treat patient of cardiology. They will always refer it to cardiologist…They will never change a single drug prescribed by Cardiologist.They will always say patient to go to cardiologist.

On other hand every Docter from GP to specialist and every quack will try to treat patients of gastroenterolgy, neurology, pulmonology etc although they donot have proper knowledge but they will try their best to make money from them.This is not case with cardiology…Everyone has fear from cardiac patient and cardiac drugs 🙂.

So many interventions in cardiology which can be done only by cardiologists…You have seen House officers doing Ascitic tap but even medical specialist is unable to do Pricardiocentesis although basic mechanism of ascitic tap and pericardiocentesis is same but none will insert needle of pericardiocentesis…this is only one example…others procedures and tests include TPM, Holter monitoring, ETT, Echocardiography, Angiography, Angioplasty, PPM, Catheter ablation, percutaneous valvular repair etc some of which can be done even in pripheries and Private Cath labs are being established in almost every city i.e jehlam, cheniot

  1. Attendants of cardiac patient will never fight with you in any situation…Have you ever heard about any incident of collapse between attendants and Docters in PIC or CPEIC or RIC?..No and you will never…Reason is that it is mindset of people that cardiac issue is very dangerouse and their expectations are already zero so they will never blame you.

  2. Now a days people saying saturation in cardiology…This is only roumer.Very high demand of cardiologists at moment… No saturation in cardiology…If you want to get seat in PIC then no doubt it will be difficult but periphery is waiting for cardiologists…Every DHQ has two to Three sactioned seats of cardiologists nd every THQ has 1 sanctioned seat of cardiologist. Recently Govt has no cardiologist for newly made wazeerabad institute of cardiolgy to make it 24/7…It is functional only from 8 to 2 pm because of shortage of cardiologists. Almost every DHQ and THQ seat is vacant and no one is willing to give joining because people have good practice in large cities.

  3. Cardiologist can work easily at District and Tehsil level and within month or so Your clinic will be full of patients because no one has time and capacity to move to big cities for treatment and monthly review check up.Only thing you need ECG nd Echocardiography machine nd people will pay you happily saying that

"choti and bari machine dono lagai hn aur sirf 5000 lia 🙂🙂" .

This is not case with gastro, neuro, etc. You will have to establish a clinic in big cities only.

  1. There are Much more patients of cardiology. Firstly cardiac issues and hypertention have increased due to lifestyle of people. 2ndly People are very sensitive now a days about cardiac issue. Even healthy people will come for check up to cardiologist. Even people having palpitations due to anxiety visit to cardiologist. This is because of fear of cardiac disease.

  2. Next plan of Govt is to make CCU in every DHQ. Due to this demand of cardiolgist will increase two to three folds.

  3. Govt is trying to make an institute of Cardiology in every division. DG khan institute of cardiology inaugurated, faculty needed. Pakpatan institute of Cardiology is in pipeline…Sargodha institute of Cardiology will be next plan.

  4. Gulf countries have much higher demand of Cardiologists…You see their advertisements routinely. They pay cardiologists 10 to 12 lac per month and give all facilities. So you can go there and enjoy life if you donot want to make your own setup.

So End result is that if someone does not want to join cardiology just because He/She has no interest in it then it is ok…Otherwise cardiology has much brighter future and much more scope and it is much more charming field.
