I feel sorry for my colleagues who are stuck because of delays in their PLAB exams due to COVID-19.

The UK government has announced new restrictions from the 5th of November

Please do not make any final plans as they might change again. If you have booked your exam in the next few weeks , please contact the GMC to confirm if it still going ahead.

If you’re going to rent a room / flat to attend your academy, please get in touch with your landlord and academy administration team to confirm if they are still going ahead as planned.

Also contact your airline to find what their requirements are regarding swabs, etc.

These are very uncertain times. And unfortunately, as a medical registrar in the NHS I am seeing loads of unwell people of all ages with COVID-19. The rules are changing on a daily basis and everything is very chaotic.

My suggestion is to

  1. Stay in your home country

  2. Continue working there

  3. Give a royal college exam

till you get confirmation.
