ICMR Guidance on Rapid antibody kits for COVID-19

  1. Not recommended for diagnosis of COVID-19 infection

  2. Detect antibody

  3. Can be done on blood/serum/plasma samples

  4. Test result is available less than 30 minutes

  5. Test comes positive after 7-10 days of infection

  6. The test remains positive for several weeks after infection

  7. Positive test indicates exposure to SARS-CoV-2

  8. Negative test does not rule out COVID-19 infection

  9. Till date, 23 antibody based rapid tests have been validated at NIV Pune, 9 of these kits are manufactured in India.
