in the treatment of ectopic pregancy, while giving methotrexate, why is folic acid avoided? Usually, for all other conditions it is mandatory to add folic acid with methotrexate as it is DHFR inhibitor.
In ectopic pregnancy , methotrexate acts by it’s cytotoxic effects and our aim is to eliminate the ectopic pregnancy.In other conditions ,it is used due to it’s immunosuppressive action,so folate supplentation is given as our aim in other conditions is not to cause cytotoxicity
