Over the last few months, a lot of things have changed for people preparing their STEPS. The latest being an unfair decision from the USMLE, were medical schools that will be administering STEP1 and STEP2 to their medical students, will have shorter exams, to be precise 80 questions shorter, 2 hours less of testing.
Even though these are unsecured items (meaning they will not be valid for your score whether the answer is right or wrong), it is 2 hours more of exhaustion, this making unfair to compare a person that takes a 7 or 8-hour test vs. one that takes a 5 or 6-hour test. This unprecedented decision affects mostly IMG’s that take their STEPS on Prometric, but also AMG that won’t be able to take STEPS on their medical schools. Let our voice be heard by writing to https://www.usmle.org so that they revaluate this decision to have a Plainfield for all.
