PHYSIOLOGY - Important formulas to remember
Cockcroft Gault formula = For calculating GFR
Stroke volume = End diastolic volume –end systolic volume
Cardiac output = Stroke volume X heart rate
Cardiac index = cardiac output /square meter of body surface area
Cardiac reserve = The maximum percentage that the cardiac output can increase above normal.
-In healthy adults, the cardiac reserve is 300 to 400 percent.
Ejection fraction = Stroke volume/end diastolic volume
Stroke work = Aortic pressure X stroke volume
Mean arterial pressure = Diastolic BP + 1/3 (Pulse Pressure)
= Diastolic BP + 1/3 (Systolic-Diastolic)
Total blood volume = plasma volume / 1 – hematocrit
