Sphenoid sinus is lined by respiratory epithelium ( pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium) .
Sphenoid sinus :-
• present in the body of sphenoid
• ostium of sphenoid sinus is located higher up in the anterior wall and opens into sphenoethmoidal recess , medial to the superior or supreme turbinate .
• Relations of sphenoid sinus:-
:: Lateral wall :- carotid artery and optic nerve.
:: Floor :- vidian nerve
:: Anterior part of the roof is related to the olfactory tract, optic chiasma and frontal lobe .
:: Posterior part is related to the pituitary gland in the sella turcica and cavernous sinus .
