Teaching and transferring skills of the 100 Emergency Medical Procedures to the core care providers in ERs of our health system ( House Officers, Postgraduate Residents, Registrars etc ) is a revolutionary step that will change the way of thinking and managing patients in Emergency Rooms. The real value of learning these techniques in a right way and applying correctly to the patients truely signifies it’s worth by reducing so much burden on different specialities, saving the precious lives, relieving the pain and distress of the patients, preventing lethal complications and getting the inner peace. The techniques I have gone through in first two days are Airway Management & Bag Mask Ventilation, Head Tilt & Chin Lift, putting OPG/NPG airways, I-Gel/ETT intubation, Valsalva/Modified Valsalva Technique in SVT Management Algorithm, Removing Helmet from an injured patient’s head ( very important ), Log Roll ( very very important ), applying Philadelphia Collar, Heimlich Maneuver in adults and children ( life saving ), C-Spine Stabilization and ETT intubation, PEFR measurement gadget in patients with Status Asthmaticus, Aspiration Pneumothorax Technique, Three Side dressing in Open Pneumothorax, Laryngoscopic guided FB removal from oropharynx using Magill’s Forceps, Relieving Shoulder dislocations in minutes, Ankle & Elbow Dislocations management, Thomas Splint for Shaft of Femur Fracture Stabilization, Applying Pelvic Binder correctly, Applying POP cast, Arm Support/rest, Mallet Splint, Epistaxis Management both anterior and posterior ( nasal packing, Folley’s insertion, Rhino Rapid Insertion, Cauterisation with Silver Nitrite ) Eye rapid examination and FB removal, Eye Irrigation post chemical injury, Eye pH measurement, Ophthalmoscopy, red reflex etc, FB ear removal, FB nose removal ( Parental Kiss ) Taking Arterial Sample and putting a peripheral IV catheter etc. It’s not just about the 60 doctors getting trained in this workshop, I hope these 60 will make another 600 learn these skills Insha Allah.
