The aorta is the largest artery in the body.

The aorta can be divided into four sections:

1- the ascending aorta

Branches:

The left and right aortic sinuses

2- the aortic arch

Branches:

a-Brachiocephalic trunk

b-Left common carotid artery

c-Left subclavian artery

3- the thoracic (descending) aorta

Branches:

a-Bronchial arteries

b-:Mediastinal arteries

c-Oesophageal arteries

d-Pericardial arterie

e-Superior phrenic arteries

f-Intercostal and subcostal arteries

4-the abdominal aorta.

Branches:

a-Inferior phrenic arteries

b-Coeliac artery

c-Superior mesenteric artery

d-Middle suprarenal arteries

e-Renal arteries

f-Gonadal arteries

g-Inferior mesenteric artery

h-Median sacral artery

i-Lumbar arteries.
