These are images from the study of a 6-year-old girl with monthly seizures involving eye closure and facial spasms.

Preoperative unenhanced 3D T1-weighted (A) and T2-weighted (B) MR images show left occipital cortical lesion with low T1 and high T2 signal intensity, multiple cystic components at deep aspect (not shown), and scalloping of overlying occipital bone.

Intraoperative 3D T2-weighted MR image © shows residual tissue of abnormal signal intensity around surgical cavity.

Postoperative 3D T2-weighted image (D) shows interval resection of main bulk of tumor with residual abnormal tissue anteromedial to surgical cavity. Decision was made to stop surgery to avoid visual cortex injury. Lesion was pathologically proved to be dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor.
