Vitamin B12 Deficiency Associated with Memory Loss
Recently, a group of researchers from Tufts University found that older people with a vitamin B12 deficiency had more trouble with mental processes associated with cognitive actions.
Definitions of the term ‘cognitive’ range from an action required to maintain the ability to understand or process information from outside sources to making decisions based on previously acquired knowledge.
The researchers discovered that people with lower levels of vitamin B12 saw greatly reduced cognitive abilities
. They concluded that vitamin B12 deficiencies and cognitive ability loss in older individuals was greater than previously thought.
