why progesterone is needed along with LH surge for ovulation and is absence of progesterone the reason for anovulatory cycles ?
progesterone is not needed for ovulation, progesterone is a byproduct of ovulation as it is secreted by the corpus luteum. no ovulation, no corpus luteum, no progesterone. so no progesterone in anovulatory cycles.

so when we studied about estrogen dominant cycles in those females there is no progesterone?
•For ovulation you need BOTH LH and FSH surge. For development of LH surge you need High Estrogen and for maintenance of LH surge you need both Estrogen + Progesterone.
•Absence of Progesterone is Not the cause of Anovulation. Absence of Progesterone is the RESULT of Anovulation
